Forum Event IV: Hats & Hairstyles

Journal Entry: Thu May 1, 2008, 7:29 PM

~Seitou here again! Okay, so I'm starting the new debate topic a day late... but things have been hectic lately. Essays, presentations, finals, and all sorts of good fun. </sarcasm>

So, let's get started on the next debate topic, which was inspired by a conversation from one of the past forum events: hats & hairstyles. Hats amuse me terribly. They used to be such an essential part of any man's or woman's outfit, but now hardly anyone wears them...

Also, check out *Idzit's club: :iconbringbackhats-club: We'll also be going back to holding polls for the next forum even topics. Feel free to suggest topics you want to discuss!

Hopefully, I'll be around to take part in this discussion ;)

That's okay. The reference material list has gotten so long I can hardly keep track of half the stuff on there :XD:

Wer reitet so spät durch Nacht und Wind?
Es ist der Vater mit seinem Kind;
Er hat den Knaben wohl in dem Arm,
Er faßt ihn sicher, er hält ihn warm.

That site is awesome, but we've already got a link to it.

And if you want to see more Incroyable fashion, then I recommend Decollete: [link]

I have long referred to a book called 'The Artifice of Beauty' by Sally Pointer, which has a ton of stuff on historical cosmetics, inc. adapted recipes. I just thought of it, having found her website, which some people might find as indispensible as i have :)

For want of a nail the shoe was lost,
for want of a shoe the horse was lost,
for want of a horse the knight was lost,
for want of a knight the battle was lost.
So it was a kingdom was lost - all for want of a nail.

But trust is the color of a dark seed growing.
Trust is the color of a heart's blood flowing.
Trust is the color of a soul's last breath.
Trust is the color of death.

Does anyone know of some kind of historical costume fair? Like renaisance fairs but not limited to the renaisance fashion.

The Sylvia Plath story is told to girls who write
They want us to think that to be a girl poet
Means you have to die
