Attention, Everyone! We are now on the new group system!

Currently, everyone is only a group "watcher." In order to become a full member (submit art and contribute), you need to "join the group." So, please click on the "Join Group" button, which should be located at the top of the page.

Also, I've modified the club rules so that they're appropriate for this new group layout. So, I advise that everyone reads the new rules, but I'll also recap here: members are all able to submit deviations to the gallery, and those deviations only need one vote from a mod in order to be accepted (as the club grows, this might change). Also, I've decided to relax the rules on historical accuracy. LMH will now accept historically accurate deviations as well as historically inspired deviations―HOWEVER, all historically inspired deviations will be separated into their own little gallery, whereas those that are historically accurate will be grouped into galleries for the appropriate time period (if you look in the gallery, you will see that I've created galleries for each time period).

We're also still looking for two more moderators to join us, so please note me at my regular account!

~Seitou

Starting Over on the New Group System

EDIT: Alrighty! Most of my housekeeping around here is done, and I'll hopefully submit the club for group conversion either later tonight or sometime tomorrow! Also, =RedPassion will be joining us as a fifth moderator :boogie: That means there are only two (2) spots open if anyone else would like to join.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to begin by apologizing for being very unresponsive and not tending to the club. Since posting the last journal, I've really been debating what I should do with this account-- whether I ought to delete it or just hang on to it... and continue to let it fester >_> However, *Friedemann thankfully notified me a while ago about the new beta group systems, which are now available :D

So, I will be converting La Mode Historique over to the NEW GROUP SYSTEM!

However, because I have to study for an exam and I'd like to do some "housekeeping" around here, I won't be converting the club until after December 22nd. So, the new group will be something like a "late Christmas present," lol. Now, on to housekeeping:

1) I'll be deleting all the journal entries, except for the massive list of refence material links and the club rules and such. So, all the forum events, past discussions, and drama will be deleted; I want for the club to start over with a clean slate.

2) I will also be deleting all of the entries in the gallery. One of the major perks of this new group system is that members can upload their own work to the gallery, which means that you don't have to wait for anyone else to get around to uploading it. Also, when a member uploads a deviation, then anyone who views that deviation is automatically directed to the member's own gallery and the original deviation-- so no one has to worry about people favoriting images in the group! However, if I converted the club without deleting the gallery, then any images that are already in the gallery would be attributed to the club, not the members who submitted them... and that wouldn't be good. Therefore, I'll be deleting all the images in the gallery so that members can upload them once the club is converted, and that means we can eliminate the problem of favoriting the wrong deviation, and members can take all the credit for their work.

3) It's time for some redecorating! I want to change the webcam picture, make a new club ID, and possibly make a new avie. The club will be starting afresh on the new system, so it's time to leave the past behind and move on.

4) LMH will now focus exclusively on western fashion from the ancient world through the 1950s. Originally, the club wasn't supposed to cater just to western fashions... but somehow it ended up being about western fashion anyway >_> So... it's probably better just to say that we're a club for those interested in the history of western fashion.

5) New start, new moderators! No, I'm not firing any of the old mods ;P However, a while ago, the club reached a point where 4 moderators simply weren't enough. In addition to the original mods, I'd like to appoint 3 new moderators! So, if you want to be a mod, then here's what to do:

:bulletred: Send a note to my regular account (~Seitou); I don't check this account on a regular basis, so if you note LMH instead of my private account, then I can't promise that I'll read your note. Please give your note a subject: LMH Moderator Request or something similar. I don't want to mistake your note for spam.

:bulletred: In that note, tell me about your knowledge of fashion history so that I have a sence of who you are (if I don't already know you, lol).

IMPORTANT: When I receive your notes, I will send back a response: "Thank you for applying." This is just to let you know that I've received your note. When I've made my decision, I will come here and accounce who I've appointed as the new mods.

So, here's to a new start :w00t:

I'll be popping up around here to delete the journals, gallery, and do some redecorating. Other than that, I'll see you guys later in December!

If you know of a site that features either paintings & pictures or reproductions of historical clothing, let me know and I'll add it to the list. Also feel free to recommend books (I need the full titles and author though). As far as the time period is concerned, it doesn't really matter-- anything from ancient times up through the early 20th century is fine. New sites will be marked with a * next to the link (at least until the next update).

Club Rules-- PLEASE READ

:rose: Club Rules :rose: Historical Fashion Reference Material :rose: LMH on Facebook :rose:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please take your time to read and follow these rules. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Please take your time to read and follow these rules. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

:bulletred: Submitting Deviations: At the moment, work only needs to be approved by 1 (one) moderator; this will likely change as the club grows. Please, don’t submit any more than three submissions per week.

:bulletred: What fashions are acceptable? All historical fashions before 1960 are acceptable as submissions; this means that western as well as world fashions are allowed in the gallery. Keep in mind, though, that LMH's chief focus is western fashion. In the past, we opened up the group to other fashions, but it still ended up being mostly about western fashions, so we decided that we might as well limit the group to those styles. However, we're still open to featuring other styles in the "World Fashions" section of the gallery, but any film/book reviews and other blogs that LMH features will be related to western fashions.

:bulletred: Sexual Content & Gore: Please, do not submit work with sexual content or gore. Keep it tame. Holding hands, hugging, and kissing are one thing, but anything beyond that is crossing the line; we don’t need to see pictures of people with their hands down someone’s breeches/up someone’s petticoat… or worse. The same thing goes for violence; keep it tame. No blood & guts, please.

:bulletred: Media: We’re open to all types of art—drawings (traditional/digital), paintings, textiles, photography, even writing. If you want to submit fashion articles to the club, then that’s great; just make sure you cite your sources.

:bulletred: Historical Accuracy: We're a club for historical fashion, but that doesn't mean that we don't appreciate historically inspired costumes. However, we don't believe in mixing historically inspired outfits with those that are historically accurate, so any thing we consider "historically inspired" will be moved to the appropriate group gallery. If you have any questions about historical accuracy or need help with anything, then don’t hesitate to ask us.

:bulletred: Advertising: Help us spread word about the club by displaying our icon somewhere in your journal.

:bulletred: Requests: If there’s something you want to see, don’t be afraid to ask. We’re always looking for ways to improve the club.

:bulletred: Etiquette: We’re a community; respect the moderators and other members! Also, respect our sister club, History Fashion Lovers.

Please note that if we feel the work submitted violates any of these rules, we will not upload it to the gallery.

Welcome to La Mode Historique! We’re a club dedicated to western historical fashions through the ages—from ancient times up through the 1950s. Our goal here is mainly to have fun, but we’re also hoping to provide useful information about historical fashions for those who are interested in the subject. We also love to learn about fashion, so if you know something that we don’t, feel free to share.

Simply adding the club to your watch list will not allow you to upload deviations since it means that you're not a full member. We’d also appreciate it if you’d display our icon somewhere in your journal. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
