La Mode Historique Club RulesPlease take your time to read and follow these rules. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
- Joining the Club: To join the club, just add us to your watch list. It's that simple 8D
- Submitting Deviations: Please send us a note with "Club Submission" as the subject. Also be sure to include a link to work that you wish to submit. Please, don't send any more than three submissions per week. When submitting a deviation that is an entry for a contest, note us with the subject "Contest Submission." Specific Contest rules will provide further detail.
Regarding the Content of SubmissionsThe purpose of this club is to promote the study and understanding of historical fashion. That said, we decided it was in the best interest of the club to add the following rules. Some might see them as restrictive, but we see them as being necessary in order to uphold the purpose of the club.- Sexual Content & Gore: Please, do not submit work with sexual content or gore. Keep it tame. Holding hands, hugging, and kissing is one thing, but anything beyond that is crossing the line; we don't need to see pictures of people with their hands down someone's breeches/up someone's petticoat... or worse. The same thing goes for violence; keep it tame. No blood & guts, please.
- Mediums: We're open to all types of art: drawings (traditional/digital), paintings, textiles, photography, even writing. If you want to submit fashion articles to the club, then that's great; just make sure you cite your sources and have your facts straight.
- Historical Accuracy: This is probably the most important rule. We're a club for
historical fashion, not fantasy or "historically inspired" fashion. There's a big difference between historically accurate and historically inspired, so please keep that in mind when submitting work. Please, don't try to pass off Gothic Lolita costumes as Victorian costumes. The same goes for Ren-fair, bawdy peasant, and pirate costumes. We're interested in seeing work that's historically accurate; we don't like promoting bad costume-period stereotypes. If you have any questions about historical accuracy or need help with anything, then don't hesitate to ask us. We're a community; we're here to help each other out.
Please note that if we feel the work submitted violates any of these rules, we will not upload it to the gallery.- Favorites: We're a club, so there's no need to favorite the deviations in our gallery; please go to the deviants' galleries and favorite the original submission.
- Advertising: Help us spread word about the club by displaying our icon somewhere in your journal.
- Requests: If there's something you want to see, don't be afraid to ask. We're always looking for ways to improve the club
- Etiquette: We're a community; respect the moderators and other members! Also, respect our sister club, History Fashion Lovers.
And most importantly,
have fun!
